This basement remodel in Bella Casa, Apex, focused on fully realizing the potential of the home’s lower level. The homeowners wanted a cohesive, finished space that could support a range of uses while feeling intentionally designed.

The basement was completed from end to end with a layout that balances function and flexibility. A large wraparound bar anchors the space, featuring custom cabinetry and built-in storage. A custom wine cellar adds a dedicated focal point, while a full bathroom and workout room allow the basement to function comfortably as a true extension of the home. Custom barn-door closets were incorporated to conceal arcade machines and additional storage without interrupting the overall design.

The project also included updates to the outdoor patio area, creating a seamless connection between interior and exterior spaces. With clearly defined zones and highly customized details throughout, the finished basement now feels polished, versatile, and purpose-built, centered around a bar space designed to be enjoyed for years to come.

The design centered on establishing the basement as a dedicated gathering environment, anchored by a custom wine cellar and a substantial built-in bar. Rather than treating the lower level as secondary space, the intent was to give it a clear focal point and strong architectural presence. The wraparound bar defines the room and creates a sense of structure, allowing the surrounding areas to feel cohesive and grounded. The layout was organized around the bar as the central element, with support beams integrated to maintain openness while reinforcing the structure. By framing the space in this way, the basement reads as one continuous area instead of a collection of disconnected rooms. The result is a more expansive environment with clearer spatial definition, where each zone relates logically to the next while maintaining an open feel.
